Description
As a Teacher in Training, you will be responsible for development of classroom instructional plans for students and support student's success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Principal and work on-site.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan based on a students IEP and grade and subject area curricula; work with content area teachers to ensure that their lessons are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on their caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of individual and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
- Manage and model the implementation of classroom PBIS universal components and Tier 2 and 3 strategies for selected students.
- Schedule and oversee teacher assistants as they assist students in multiple non-instructional environments.
- Provide leadership to assigned teacher assistants in the various clerical and non-instructional duties for your classroom.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, clinicians, administrators, medical staff and other school staff to provide integrated support, assistance, and treatment to students.
Requirements and Education:
- Bachelor's degree and/or New York State Certification as a Teacher Assistant.
- 2 years experience working with students in an educational setting.
- Certification/Licensure in progress for a Special Education Teacher.

Position Purpose: Patrols buildings and grounds, responds to emergencies and performs related duties designed to promote and ensure a safe and secure campus environment.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Safety and Security Patrol: Patrols campus premises on foot or vehicle to ensure the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Identifies and responds to potential security threats, suspicious activities, and safety hazards. Monitors access to campus buildings and facilities and ensures that only authorized individuals enter restricted areas. Directs traffic during peak hours, special events, or emergencies, ensuring smooth flow and pedestrian safety.
- Emergency Response: Responds promptly to emergency calls, provides first aid or assistance as needed, and coordinates with other emergency responders when required.
- Crime Prevention: Monitors access points, enforces campus policies, and addresses violations like trespassing, vandalism, and theft. Conducts security checks on buildings and facilities.
- Investigations: Collects evidence, interviews witnesses, and files detailed reports for further action by campus authorities or law enforcement if necessary.
- Safety Training and Awareness: Attends safety workshops, training sessions, and awareness programs related to personal safety, fire safety, and active shooter preparedness.
- Communication: Maintains clear and constant communication with other Campus Safety members, campus staff, and local law enforcement to coordinate responses to incidents effectively.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in a related field, and/or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, or work experience. Associate’s degree in a related field of study may be substituted for work experience.
- Valid NYS drivers license.
- Current New York State Security Guard registration certification required.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, walk and stand for extended periods, and climbing of stairs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
- Demonstrated conscientiousness related to safety and ability to follow procedures.

Compensation:
The rate for this position is $20.00 per hour. Science Teacher - Neil Hellman School
**Sign On Bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and1/2 at a year)
As a Science Teacher, you will develop and implement Science classroom instructional plans for students. You will provide subject area instruction (Science) that follow the NYS K-12 Science Curricula and prepare students for exit examinations and statewide assessments. You will report to the Assistant principal and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement science instructional materials to provide individual and small group instruction to students of various ability levels, and at the high school level develop, teach, and assess laboratory experiences for Earth Science, Living Environment, and/or Environmental Science.
- Develop and implement classroom instructional plans with the Special Education Teachers that integrates the student's IEP goals and objectives, learning styles, and accommodations and modifications that are needed.
- Work with the Special Education Teachers on individual and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom.
- Use the classroom PBIS universal plan and Tier 2 and 3 strategies for selected students.
- Coordinate the safety and well-being of students through the use of established classroom and schoolwide processes and procedures; supervise classroom staff in implementing these with their work with students throughout the building.
- Follow school and agency procedures and policies for reporting incidents. This includes behavior incident reports (IR) and incidents such as child/sexual abuse, substance abuse, harassment, bullying, and violence.
- Establish relationships with parents and family members to create a partnership around student treatment, student behavior, and academic progress.
- Participate in classroom grade level, and behavior/treatment meetings and professional training and development sessions (e.g. TCI, CPR, emergency procedures and other agency requirements).
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to our school and students.
- Provide leadership to assigned teacher assistants in the various clerical and non-instructional duties for your classroom.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or subject area (Master's Degree preferred), and the ability to work with students who demonstrate serous emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21.
- A degree in science with enrollment in a program that leads to a teaching certification may be considered.
- Requires NYS certification in Science or a related field.

As an Art Teacher, you will provide art education that follows the NYS standards to children grades K-12. You will report to the Assistant Principal (Principal) and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize art materials and equipment,
- Provide therapeutic art instruction to individuals, small groups, and classrooms,
- Provide leadership in a variety of school-wide art events and activities,
- Work with school administration to deliver art experiences to students in a variety of school-wide venues on the agency campus,
- Provide subject area instruction (Art) that follows the NYS K-12 Art Curricula and provides students with appropriate level art lessons and age experiences.
- Develop and implement art instructional materials to provide individual and small group instruction to students of various ability levels grades K-12.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will develop and implement classroom instructional plans for students and support students success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Assistant Principal and you will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.
- Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan based on a students IEP and grade and subject area curricula; work with content area teachers to ensure that their lessons are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on your caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
- Coordinate the creation of special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities; create and modify materials to match student abilities.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of single and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
Requirements and Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's Degree preferred) or subject area, and ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 6-21. General education certification with enrollment in a program that leads to special education certification may be considered.

Job Summary | The Department of Science & Technology Studies (STS) in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks a tenure track/tenured Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor specializing in Community Engagement and Community-Based Research and whose research and teaching is grounded in Science and Technology Studies (STS). Minimum Qualifications | Applicants must have a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Science and Technology Studies or a related field, such as Sociology, Anthropology, Design Studies, Geography, or Media Studies. Job Summary | The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks applications for a tenure-track (or tenured) faculty position at the Associate Professor level in Business Analytics/Supply Chain Management starting Fall 2024. Job Summary | Endowed Constellation Faculty in Future Chips at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute We are especially interested in candidates who have a demonstrated ability to perform high impact research in semiconductor technology to address the next generation challenges in computing. Areas of focus are rooted in fundamental science and engineering that drive advances in microelectronics, such as heterogeneous integration, advanced logic, advanced packaging, and power electronics. Physics of materials is also important to making these advances and is, therefore, an area of interest. The ideal candidates are expected to develop an internationally recognized, externally funded, scientific program in chip technology for the future of computing. Job Summary | The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences (E&ES) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for one open rank, and one assistant level tenure-track/tenured position, both in Earth Systems Science. Research areas in the E&ES Department currently include experimental, analytical, and environmental geochemistry, petrology of Earth’s systems, biogeochemistry, astrobiology, geomicrobiology, and modern and ancient climate change. We are seeking applicants whose research will complement and grow these strengths, and whose research programs address fundamental problems in Earth Systems science, including, but not limited to: 1. Natural systems and environmental geochemistry, global change, critical zone science, soil science, environmental mineralogy. Job Summary | The Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the field of Quantum Computing, Quantum Information, and Quantum Technology, with focus on the fundamental aspects or applications of quantum computation, scalability, and error correction on current and future quantum computing devices. Research areas can include but not limited to quantum entanglement, decoherence, and noise in quantum networks, with applications to quantum cryptography, quantum encryption, and secure quantum communications in noisy environments. Possible related areas would also include studying and exploiting the fundamental connections between Quantum Monte Carlo and Quantum Computing, simulating quantum field theory and many-body theory with a quantum computer (in particular, simulating systems with a “sign” problem), quantum communication networks, exotic quantum dynamics, quantum sensing protocols, exotic quantum phases of matter, and theory on the nature of information at the quantum level. With the anticipated of arrival of the IBM Quantum System One on our campus, this hire will have access to explore and implement some of these challenging problems. This hire would be part of a bold effort at RPI to strengthen and extend our current faculty cluster in Quantum Information, and would interact with our current faculty on quantum optics and photon entanglement, quantum field-theory, quantum fluctuations in networks, as well as with researchers from Computer Science, ECSE, Future of Computing Institute, and with the future hires of the recently announced Quantum Constellation. The position also represents a response to federal priorities expressed in the National Quantum Initiative Act. The successful candidate will establish/maintain and externally funded research program, participate in collaborative, multi-investigator research and research training initiatives, and contribute to the high impact teaching program in the Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy. Postdoctoral research experience and a strong early record of publication in leading journals is preferred. The candidate is expected to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment. |
Starting Salary/Rate | Expected hiring range: Assistant Professor: $110,000 to $115,000 Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting. |
